Bluebonnet Luncheon

The Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA) reading program was established in 1979 by the Texas Library Association. Each year, the Bluebonnet Committee creates a list of 20 nominated children's books for students in 3rd - 6th grades. At Blattman, students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades are encouraged to participate in this program. Students who read at least 5 of the 20 books will be eligible to vote in January for their favorite title. The book receiving the most votes statewide will receive the Texas Bluebonnet Award. Blattman students who pass an Accelerated Reader Quiz on their grade level goal will also be eligible to participate in our annual
Bluebonnet Luncheon sponsored by the PTA. 
For the 2009-2010 school year, the luncheon will be held on
February 24, 2010. 

 Grade level goals are as follows:
Third grade - read at least 6 of the books and pass 6 quizzes.
Fourth grade - read at least 7 books and pass 7 quizzes
Fifth grade - read at least 8 books and pass 8 quizzes.

These students will receive an invitation to the Bluebonnet Luncheon, a special Bluebonnet Reader tag, a certificate, and recognition at end-of-year awards. Please see the Blattman Elementary School Library Webpage for additional details.

Attention Book Worms!
Our librarian needs your help! We are currently seeking PALs to aid
Mrs. Villarreal in shelving and categorizing books. Help keep our library
in tip top shape for our young readers.

Please contact our Library PAL coordinator, Esthela Guerra, to volunteer.

Book Fair

Blattman hosts two book fairs each year where your child will have an opportunity to select from a wide variety of books and gifts, with proceeds benefitting our own Blattman library. Hard-working parent volunteers operate the book fair helping to make it a success.
