Fall Single Event Volunteering

  • Black Bear Bash - Join the committee coordinating Blattman PTA's only fundraising event , including live and silent auctions.
  • Bike Rodeo - Partner with the Shavano Park Police Department on this committee promoting Blattman's bike safety event.
  • Book Fair - This committee organizes the school-wide Book Fair - proceeds go to the Blattman library.
  • Career Day - Coordinate a special day of career presentations for students.
  • Red Ribbon Week - Partner with the school counselor to present a week-long series on drug awareness.
  • Reflections - Committee works to advertise the National PTA program promoting awareness in the Arts.   Organize, log, prepare and display the children's art and literature entries for this exciting program.  Some work can be completed at home.  Time line is mainly September and October.

Spring Single Event Volunteering

  • Bluebonnet Luncheon - Organize reading recognition luncheon for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.
  • Book Fair - This committee organizes the school-wide Book Fair - proceeds go to the Blattman library.
  • Field Day - Volunteers are needed to help run the stations that students will participate in.  There are morning (K-2) and afternoon (3rd - 5th) shifts.  Work one or both, and no sports experience is necessary as all games are suitable for any skill level. 
  • TAKS Snacks - Committee prepares healthy snacks to fuel 3rd, 4th and 5th graders on those crucial testing days.
  • Teacher Appreciation Week - Assist the Hospitality Chair in planning a special week of "thank yous" for our teachers.
  • WRAP Packs - Organize the sale and distribution of prepackaged school supplies.

School Year Volunteering

  • Arts In Education - New committee to help our PTA  further the national PTA program supporting the cultural arts by bringing visual and performing arts opportunities to the campus.
  • Art Teacher PAL - Parent Assisted Learning to aid our students and their art teacher in creating and displaying works.
  • Benevolence - Committee acknowledges loss and offers condolences on behalf of the Blattman PTA and works to identify community service opportunities.
  • Box Tops for Education - Committee to increase awareness and participation in General Mills' nationwide fundraising  program rewarding schools for turning in coupons clipped from participating products.
  • Chess Education - Committee to assist students, grades 3 thru 5, in academic enrichment through learning the game of chess.  (You do not have to know how to play to volunteer.)
  • Classroom PAL - Parent Assisted Learning aid to work in the classroom as directed by the teacher.
  • Community Partners - Committee acknowledges the many businesses that contribute to our school and encourages continued support.
  • Environmental Awareness -  Committee promotes awareness of the environment and coordinates the celebration of Earth Week.
  • Health Awareness PAL - Parent Assisted Learning to assist the school nurse with vision/hearing screenings and other health related projects.
  • Hospitality - Committee coordinates PTA hospitality events, including teacher's luncheons.
  • Library PAL - Parent Assisted Learning to aid librarian in shelving and categorizing books.
  • NISD Council Rep - Individual to attend NISD Council quarterly meetings and report to Blattman PTA Board.
  • Room Parent - Individual plans Winter and End-of-the Year parties and celebrates the teacher's birthday with the class.  May also be asked to participate in coordinating Classroom PALS,  Teacher Appreciation activities, a class art project for the Black Bear Bash,  and find volunteers to work the School Store.
  • School Store -  Staff  Bear Necessities, the Blattman store, open one day a week, before or after school and at special events.
  • Science Lab - Committee to oversee materials and coordiante activities in the new Science Lab.
  • Sister School -  Committee to nurture the spirit of volunteerism through the partnership between Blattman and Villarreal Elementary.
  • Workroom PAL - Committee to coordinate work room scheduling, make copies and complete other faculty projects.
  • Yearbook -  Committee to assist in the production of annual Blattman yearbook.
